Medical Marijuana as Treatment for Migraines |
Migraines can be described as acute headaches brought about by the narrowing of blood vessels carrying blood to the brain.
The cause of migraine headaches is still not completely known. However, research has shown that stress, anxiety, and hormones are factors that may trigger a migraine headache.
Migraines can cause immense sensitivity to light, nausea, insomnia, and anxiety. Some migraines affect one specific area of
the head, while other migraines can spread to different regions of the head. For many years, people have been using medical marijuana to treat symptoms of a migraine headache including pain, insomnia, anxiety and nausea. There are also many pharmaceutical drugs available for reducing symptoms, but many patients may find they have long term addiction problems
and/or serious negative side effects from their prescriptions.
Smoking medical marijuana can be harmful to the respiratory system, especially if not organically grown (it may contain
harmful toxins). Consider these methods instead; vaporization, topical, and edible form. If
you suffer from migraine headaches or from negative side effects of migraine medications and are interested in a natural alternative, please call our office today at 877.229.4201 for more information and/or to schedule and appointment with one of our Physicians. Or, simply fill out our Online Appointment Request Form. |
